Wikipedia Article Censorship Rate
This page provides insight into the frequency of content removal on Wikipedia. We track the monthly censorship rate, which indicates the percentage of articles removed or heavily restricted during that period. Additionally, we display the cumulative total of censored articles over time.
These figures are derived from publicly available data on article deletion and revision history. By analysing this information, we aim to illuminate trends in content moderation and censorship on one of the world's largest knowledge repositories.
Understanding these statistics is crucial for anyone interested in digital freedom of information, the evolving landscape of online content, and the mechanisms by which public knowledge platforms are curated and controlled.
